Made with Alnico magnets, Excel Sound's award-winning Hana SL is a Shibata-tipped, Low-Output Moving Coil (LOMC). It requires a high-gain "MC" preamp - or, a step-up transformer combined with a low-gain "MM" phono section. Recommended load resistance >400 Ohms. A budget champ. Made in Japan.
Stereophile Class B Recommended Component.
*Note that most of the SL reviews were done before the ML was introduced - i.e. when the SL was the top of the Hana line.
