NAD's top of the line C588 turntable with electronic speed control is a high end contender - and one of our favourites! The C588 features a custom designed carbon fiber tonearm shaft with a fixed metal headshell, and features a decoupled counterweight and magnetic anti-skate compensation. An Ortofon 2M Red cartridge is factory installed and offers superb tracking and a delicately nuanced full range sound. The C588 uses a longer than usual 9” tonearm to optimize overhang and reduce the tracking angle error. Tonearm adjustments include azimuth as well as vertical tracking angle (VTA/SRA), a rarity at this price level. Also included is a gauge to calibrate the alignment. To isolate external vibrations from the loudspeakers or footfalls bouncing the floor, NAD use a massive MDF base with specially tuned vibration damping feet, along with a thick non-resonant dust cover. The choice of glass platter, felt pad, MDF base, and carbon fiber tonearm, were carefully considered to work together to limit and reduce spurious vibration. Recommended!

The fidelity of this deck surprised me considering it’s modest price. I purchased Noam’s demo with the Nagaoka MP-110 installed and it comes very close to the considerably more expensive table / cartridge combo I sold when I foolishly thought that I’d be moving on from playing records. I now plan to listen to the MP-110 for awhile and then move up the Naga line.

Well worth the money.

Excellent package of features and price point

This is a stellar turntable for the price. I cannot think of a better turntable to buy because the combination of features they included here is unique and provides a value proposition you will not find anywhere else. That is the main reason I bought it - that, and many of the reviews echoed how well balanced the turntable is in terms of sound. I have to say, I agree. Bass is tight without ever being overbearing and treble sounds rich with lots of detail. Additionally, this is a turntable worth upgrading the cartridge on. You could easily spend $500+ on the cartridge and this turntable would not embarrass it in the slightest.

Highly recommended!
