We're very excited to welcome Parasound's acclaimed ZPhono XRM Phono Preamp to the fold. This is a mid-priced, full-featured phono stage with a robust linear power supply. It offers many options including continuously adjustable MC load impedance, adjustable gain settings (4) for high- and low-output cartridges, capacity for two turntables (or tonearms), and stereo/mono operation. Best of all it is built to Parasound's exacting high-end standards - both in build quality and sound quality. Specs? The last time we had a phono preamp with comparable signal-to-noise ratio, it said "Audio Research" on the front. Parasound even included a set of balanced outputs!

"Parasound has so aggressively priced this, and it offers so much sonic performance for the money, finding a better MM-only phono preamp for around the same money might be difficult! (as would finding a similarly priced phono preamp with such detailed and well-measuring specifications)." Michael Fremer, Analog Planet

A major upgrade

Noam suggested this preamp with a Hana moving coil cartridge, and the results are lush and engaging, often like having the band in the room. This was all done at a very real world, and affordable, cost. (He is in this for far more than just the money- there were much more expensive options that he could have provided, and frankly I would have had no idea. Untypical indeed.).
He also had some recommendations for labels and specific recordings and, just like turntable upgrades, he was right on the mark.
